Brian’s Bit On The Web |

|
Welcome to our website, which is now really coming into its own. When I wrote my last online bit, we were hoping to see our hundredth visitor. Now that the website is no longer just a novelty, we hope that it will be an increasingly accurate reflection of the life of the Church, supplying useful information about our life and activities. We hope too that it will be a source of encouraging and thought-provoking material, helpful to ‘surfers’, whether they are part of our regular congregation or not. We are keen to know whether our website provides the kind of information you are looking for, so, whether you are from Dewsbury or much further afield, please send us an email. We’d love to know who all those visitors are, so if you write to brian@dewsburybaptistchurch.co.uk I’ll be delighted to hear from you and reply. Of course, the website is a bit like a shop window – it tells you what we would like you to know about the Church. We think we’re quite a friendly bunch, who enjoy Church life and love to welcome visitors, whether they’re just looking or really plan to stay. That’s what we’ll tell you in our website and other publicity. But you won’t really find out what we’re like until you call in and see us, which we warmly invite you to do. We won’t put on a special performance, as we don’t know when you might turn up. We’re comfortable with the idea that visitors might (and do) arrive quite unexpectedly at any time. So what do we think we have to offer? We believe in worship which is lively, with music that draws on the best of old and new. We don’t claim to have reached a high standard, just that we are seeking to offer our best to God. I enjoy preaching, and the work of preparation that goes into it. My aim is always to proclaim the good news of Jesus in a way that is firmly grounded in the Bible, and also interesting and accessible to everyone. Right at the forefront of our thinking is that we believe in community, in friendship – a quality that many people in our society long to find. We hope that, whatever your experience, and wherever you may be, you too will find the opportunity to worship, to hear God’s word and to be welcomed and accepted as a part of God’s family. So, if you’re in the area, why not give us a try? Brian
