END OF YEAR REPORT FOR TIMMY MILLER Year 34 student, God education is interminable!!!

"Timmy has had a very mixed year. His strengths are in one to one situations where he is usually, but not always, charming, amiable and looks after the children's interests. He has some innovative ideas. However his overall management style is weak and wishy-washy. He finds it hard to deal with groups and stamp his authority on a situation. Timmy needs to start believing in himself and not bow to bullying from others in authority.

Do you really WANT this position Timmy? GO for it boy, go for it. Signed Your Head Teacher!!

FETE DAY June 11th 2005-08-02

It was an average fete with an average amount of money raised - £1,600, about £1,000 for this was from raffle tickets. A lot of work from a lot of people for not much money, but importantly the children enjoy the experience. Financing the minibuses reliant on the fete is a bit scary every year - but that's up to the association

Did you spot the very special guest looking like a duck out of water and with a brick in her handbag?

TALKING OF SCHOOL FUNDS

Harlow Fields has been given £170,000 of touch-screen plasma TVs which is really great news! Has anyone on the newsgroups seen one installed yet? So these must have cost ?£10,000 ? each. We hope they are not easily breakable.

PROTECTING PLASMA SCREENS etc

So the prongy spiky fence is now up. I suspect the previous incumbent would have had it all the way round the school. We sincerely hope that there will be no more break-ins. Will we be told if there are, particularly if the families personal data base file is STOLEN AGAIN (happened about 5 years ago and nobody told the parents!. We also hope the admin staff have taken notice of OFSTED and keep the current computer password SECRET (ie limited no. of staff to know)

MAINSTREAM LINKS REPORTED IN NEWSLETTER

"There are great experiences from mainstream and special school pupils working together"

Yes but that is just playing at it. There should be MUCH GREATER cross-over for those who can benefit, with some pupils being based in mainstream with their specialist teacher. Is this what is being discussed when we hear

"Admissions Policy will change dramatically in 2007"

That sounds like more exclusion and less choice for needy pupils barred from Special School

NOTICE THE WEB-SITE ADDRESS IS MISSING FROM THE NEWSLETTER

This is in spite of requests at the Annual Parents Meeting

NO SCHOOL NURSE - TOLD YOU SO

Finally they've owned up to what we told you last year. NO matter how you call it there is no school nurse, but a community nurse who comes in occasionally. You all should now have the brochure produced by the P.C.T, telling you this, if you read between the lines. Even Tim when he started back as Head thought she was full time!!

Legally there has to be a nurse on site when medication is given, so she can authorise it and monitor, in case of any adverse reactions there have been some near misses when she wasn't there

So who gives Medication - Yes it's those jolly old First Aiders. So yet again we ask WHAT IS THEIR ACCREDITATION? Are they First Aid trained for adults or children. Can we see their accreditation please? What on earth is the link between first aid and administering medication. What about a course in administering medication properly accredited. And while we're at it what about the ACCREDITATIONS for all those other "bogus?" qualifications? Lets have some open and honest details please Tim

SELF EVALUATION FOR GOVS IS COMING

Unless you lot can get 15 brave souls to "come out" so to speak and attend the next A.P.M. supposedly in Oct 05 there will be no more, and yet another door on info and dialogue for parents will be shut at a time when major CHANGE is about to happen. Instead the Govs will have to self-evaluate themselves. Ha Ha!!!

BROADBAND INTERNET ACCESS

It's supposedly on its way, but why has it taken so long? The rest of us have had it for years

THE GOVERNING BODY WILL SOON BE RECONSTITUTED

I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere, but basically it's to try and get more parents on it. Let's have some independent minded, ordinary parents stand and try to open up those lines of communication. You'll need to be a CRITICAL FRIEND, not an arse licker. Maybe the school is now ready to take constructive criticism???

ESSEX PARENT PARTNERSHIP WORKSHOP ON FRIDAY OCT 14th IN HARLOW< YES IN HARLOW!!!

HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW FENCE AROUND THE MINIBUSES

It doesn't take much imagination to climb on the green wheelie bin on the other side of the garage, up on to the garage roof and over the fence. It may stop them being stolen, but it won't stop vandalism. Only new garages would do this..

SCHOOL POOLS

What a sad state of affairs, both broken and closed. It's a pity one couldn't be converted to a swimming pool as opposed to a therapy pool, as only a fraction of the students require a therapy pool. Again Tim's inherited a dinosaur which should have been sorted out at amalgamation considering how much money was thrown at it. At least Tim is upgrading the significance of sport at school

SOCIAL SERVICES AND SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILIES

Social Services only usually get involved with families when there is a problem, but get involved with Special Needs children almost without exception. So how come the % of INTERVENTIONS etc is so much higher among special needs families when statistically it should not be so. This is of great concern and needs investigating. I have my theories, you work it out for yourselves.

AND SO TO THE HOLIDAYS

Well those of us that do can continue to communicate on the Interactive messaging Board. Thank you for your contributions this time. Keep the faith. We will get genuine PARENTAL PARTICIPATION within the school system, eventually. The NMSS says we will!!!
