TIM CUTS HIS LOSSES

At last the Govs got round to telling us that Tim and themselves have taken the salvaging way out. They don't have to sack him, and in return I suppose he gets the possibility of going back to being a class teacher, in some far flung school where they don't know him. This whole incident really does feel like he was set up, but he should have covered his back. He got talked into being a head when he really didn't want to. It's hard to say no when you're being flattered. He was used to carry on all the nasty policies of the previous regime.

SO WHAT ARE WE LEFT WITH?

Well Pocock and Sadler started by making all the right noises...wanting to get parents together...wanting to talk to parents...promising more communications, but I have to say at this time they are not producing the goods, the next few weeks will either prove or disprove this. It's a shame because they seem to be quite nice people, but no doubt the LEA are still calling the shots. If Tim left last term the Govs have had half a term to organise interviews for the Head's job, but no...they have let it slide yet again so no one will be taking up the job until Jan 07. You have to ask why? Well the school is about to change drastically, so they don't want the parents discussing it and organising. One credible suggestion is that they are going to close the whole school!!! so it becomes the new place for the CDC, it is already a Primary Care Trust Centre. The other possiblity is that only half the school will become the CDC and the other half will accomodate Autistic and PMLDs. The only other reason that we can think of is that this web site makes them so uncomfortable that they have tried to close down most communications.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

This is the other big issue for them as there are many things which do not meet requirements. Some things have been done recently. Apparently drinking water has been at last been piped to the classrooms (7 years after the super school opened)

ANOTHER NASTY ACCIDENT BADLY TREATED

A poor boy fell off a bike last week and broke his shoulder blade! Either the nurse was not there or she cannot assess a possible fracture and this boy was left for what appears to be a long time till his mother picked him up and decided to take him to hospital. I expect since Tim's demise staff are fully alerted to Accident Forms. It would make interesting reading about the time gap between accident and hospital. I'm surprised they didn't do the usual trick of suggesting he arrived at school like it. (no I don't think this management would) WHAT ARE LSAs doing up the town, doing personal shopping, and walking there in 30c and humidity. One child was in a wheelchair, with no hat (sunscreen?) . The LSA who I won't name (but I should and I have been given the name, bragged about how it didn't matter what she did to the children because their parents had all signed the LOCO PARENTIS form. Well, you were all advised not to sign it a long time ago. I thought general shopping in the town centre was stamped on by Barbara, one of the few things we agreed with her about. It is a waste of education, and we hope S & P will stop this again, particularly in the summer months. PMLDs seem to get a raw deal in this school as some staff seem unable or unwilling to do the Loco Parentis thing which us parents know instinctively.. that is to ask quetions on behalf of the child. Are they too hot /cold. Do they need sunscreen? Are they thirsy? and so on... Let's hope all goes well on Sports Day and at Paradise Park.

"Mother! Yon lions 'et Albert" as the monologue goes.
