March Extra - EBD School

We think we have the answer as to what will be going on in the school from Sept 07.
There are several clues.
  1. An EBD (Emotional/Behavioural Difficulties) with apparently no other Special Needs has been told he will be starting in Sept 2007.I doubt if he is going to be mixed in with other forms of Special Needs (but who knows) however this suggests a separate class of EBDs who don't necessarily have learning difficulties
  2. The school are trying to partition off part of the school, as if it isn't like a prison already, and although we don't think this is necessary or legal, it suggests even more security in part of the school. If you treat pupils like prisoners, they will behave in an "us" and "them"  mode, like Barbara Thomas insisted about staff and parents
  3. The new Advert for Heads job is in many ways reasonable but...  "You have the experience - BUT WE WANT MORE" What an earth can they mean???? Answers on Interactive Messaging Board.. Do you think, if an applicant telephones, they might mention EBD as part of the package?
  4. School pupil numbers have hovered under 120 but there is now room for 148 and the school is being funded way above what it should be
  5. The extremely severe Behaviour Plan for pupils is supposed to be strengthened!!!
  6. All the windows in the school seem to be locked, or only open a few inches
  7. There is definitely something that they are not telling us and they are concerned about parental  and community opposition .

Head's JOB ADVERT

Once again if you are a prospective head please don't be put off. We all need you, if they haven't chosen someone already. The parents have been shut out of the equation for a long time now. We really want to contribute and be part of the school community, which the present Govs  prevent and lie about. We really want to work with someone who is their own person and truly in charge, but with a spot of humanity and social skills which have been sadly lacking in many areas for a long while now
Pay is up to £67,176 dependent on experience and IMPACT !!! - you probably get more if you manage to ostracise even more parents in the first term. Parents are already told to stay away from the school without an appointment.
We have no particular problems with the ordinary staff, just management, who seem to have far too much strange control over this school.
If there is going to be an EBD element to this school then it sounds like they want a head on the cheap. Negotiate more money.

INTERIM HEADs have been variable, but some have managed to make some improvements.
However the Govs have waited til now to be serious about appointing a Head on the pretext that they can't find one.   If you get an interview and don't get the job, but think you were the best candidate take this up with the authorities (not the LEA they are also in it) Let's hope this doesn't happen, and it may not, but it has happened in the past

THERE IS LOTS OF EVIDENCE THAT THE GOVERNING AT THE SCHOOL IS IN LIMBO  THE EXCUSE BEING THAT THERE IS NO HEAD. This has been going on for years now

EVIDENCE OF PUPILS PROGRESS.

There have been no statistics for 4 years now, which strengthens my belief that Barbara fiddled the P-Scales , which measure pupil's progress to make HER school look better, which of course made it impossible for poor old Tim, so the figures have not been issued.
Pupils sometimes progress at their own slow rate and we are informed that there is little a teacher can do sometimes, so P-Scale improvement  is VERY UNREASONABLE and does not necessarily reflect the efforts of the staff. However some pupils don't have a teacher other than to take the register and this might have some effect on progress???     (I'm not criticising LSAs per se just the corrupt system)
