The Band had a great weekend at Skegness attending the Butlins Mineworkers Contest for the second year in a row

WORLD PREMIERE OF NEW EUPHONIUM SOLO , CANZONA BRAVURA

Paul Lovatt-Cooper has composed "Canzona Bravura", a euphonium solo for Martin Smith who plays with Denham Hendon Brass. Paul said “ I was delighted to be asked to write a solo for Martin who I am pleased to see is keen to promote new music for the euphonium . The solo itself is composed in a modern yet lyrical style that shows off the range and colour of the instrument. It gives the soloist a variety of playing techniques to get their teeth into and there is lots for the audience to enjoy." who returned to playing after a thirty- five year absence said “ I am thrilled and excited to be playing a very different type of euphonium solo written by such a talented composer. It was premiered in a concert by Denham Hendon Brass at the lovely Norman Church of St Germans, Cornwall on Saturday 10 October.

We had another successful weekend at the Whit Friday Marches again this year, with a very credible 9th place at Dobcross See us on .... youtube

The band came 11th out of 16 in the First Section at the Stevenage Regional Contest in March 2009 , remaining in the First Section for 2009/2010.

3rd Place at Folkstone Contest in the 1st Section 2008.

We gained third place out of an entry of Ten Bands in the First Section at Folkstone Contest playing Philip Sparkes test piece Endeavour. The band are very pleased, particulary as it was the first contest outing for their latest recruit - Connor Burgess on Eb Bass who, at only 13 years of age, made an excellent job of the exposed muted bass section opening passage.


The Band have just returned from Folkstone Contest as the first of a series of three entered during the winter season.

We played James Cook Circumnavigator in the First Section of the Area Contest at Stevenage. Although it was a dissapointing result, the Band enjoyed the day out and remain in the first section for 2008/2009.

Denham Hendon Brass (DHB) spent part of their New Years Eve 2007 in an unusual manner, entertaining guests of the actor Robert Lindsay and Rosemary Ford at their wedding held in Denham Village. "We led the guests from the church to the wedding reception playing Jingle Bells and got thoroughly soaked in the rain. The couple wanted a selection of Christmas carols played at the reception and we entertained all their guests including numerous celebrities such as Zoe Wannamaker, his on screen wife in "My Family" said DHB's euphonium, Martin Smith. "Bill Cotton, former head of BBC light entertainment was so engrossed in our playing he spent all our playing time in amongst our bass section!"
