It was very wet weather again up until June so the progress was quite slow. As I am now working on the cockpit construction though, I am able to work under the waterproof covers no matter what the weather. Just as this became possible the summer decided to arrive and still working under the plastic covers has proved to be extremely hot !!
As you will see from the photographs the rear of the cabin has now been temporarily fitted, I say temporarily because the hatch for access to the boat has still to be fitted, and also with the engine to install If the rear of the cabin can still be easily removed again it will make it easier to get the engine in place. I have decided to just have an access hatch in the rear of the cabin without the usual sliding hatch over the top of the cabin. I think it would be better from the point of view of strength and safety as most accidents happen on a boat whilst climbing in or out of the hatch.
The cockpit floor (sole) is mostly in place and the majority of the cockpit timbers have been fitted, the deck sides in the cockpit and cockpit side plywood plates have been fitted though the photographs aren't completely up to date for this. I have also included a couple of photographs of our recently acquired sprite caravan (well not exactly because I couldn't locate the pictures) these are pictures of a similar one :-)
There is also a picture of the yard trailer for this boat and a wing keel I managed to remove from a flare sailing yacht. Hope to write again soon, meanwhile please feel free to e-mail with any comments or suggestions for improvements to this site.
