Monitor Off
Turn your monitor off whenever you want, without waiting for the screen saver or power options timeout period. Especially useful for laptops and other devices that do not have a display power switch.
Features
- Honours your security settings: When your monitor is turned back on, your computer will be locked if you have selected any screen saver and enabled the option On resume password protect in Display Properties.
- Save power compared to running your screensaver.
- Consumes no background memory or CPU resources.
- Turn your monitor back on again by typing a key or moving your mouse, just like dismissing your screen saver.
Requires Windows 2000 or later and a power saving compliant display. If your display is not compliant, your selected screen saver will be started instead.

Installation
Save the file to a suitable location, e.g. "C:\Program Files\djmclean\".
Open your chosen location in Windows Explorer and then drag the application 'MonitorOff' onto your Quick Launch taskbar. Now you can click the Monitor Off icon in your taskbar whenever you want to turn your monitor off.
For a finishing touch, right-click the taskbar icon, select Properties then click the General tab. Replace the text 'Shortcut to MonitorOff.exe' with 'Turn Monitor Off'.
