On 21st June 2008 Edan took over an unused retail unit in the Gates shopping center in Durham City. Organiser Bruce Burn invited members of the public to sign their names on the wall. Local poet James Oates provided his view of the project in the form of a poem. gallery...
East Durham Coastal Project
The Project is for members of East Durham Artists Network to produce a body of work that reflects their connection and commitment to the East Durham coastal area. The idea behind the programme has been derived from a reflection and reaction to recent exhibitions (Turning the Tide) and regional art history. The project will consist of various elements, the first of these will be a series of field trips, lectures and workshops; this will culminate in a number of exhibitions to be held throughout the North East Region.
Art/Religious/Science Event
A collaborative project between Artists from EDAN - Scientists of Durham Universities, Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics – Durham Students society FACE – Theologians from Usher College, Durham. First Event – Seminar organised for 26th January 2008 to take place at the Ogden Centre. Durham. When it will be decided what direction the project will take.
‘WI EDAN – WI NOT’ (21ST June – 24th June 2007)
4 Day residency working with the community of Dalton le Dale a small village in East Durham, 21 artists took over the village, the village hall and church where they worked with the community to produce various pieces of artwork. This culminated in a small exhibition in the church at the end of the residency.
a-n Mentoring Scheme
Began October 2005 – Introduced to mentors Karen Watson and Jon Wakman from East Street Arts. Leeds. Scheme funded by a-n Magazine for development of group. Still in contact with both Jon and Karen who have been extremely useful in the groups development particularly with advise on pro. development and constitutional matters.
