Downham Market’s 31st Annual Festival takes place from Sunday 29th May to Sunday 5th June inclusive. As has become the tradition with this Festival there will be a wide variety of activities for all members of the family.
Possibly the biggest event in Downham Market throughout the year is the Carnival which will take place on the Howdale on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May. There will be a variety of stalls and side shows as well as a fairground and, of course, special arena attractions. The Carnival will be preceded by a Parade of decorated floats, walking groups and decorated cycles as well as some classic vehicles. This year the parade is sponsored by H & C Bearts of Stow Bridge and all decorated entries that take part will be eligible for a donation towards the group they represent.
Also, as tradition has dictated, the majority of the events throughout the week are arranged by local groups and include open days to their regular meetings, demonstrations of their work and specially arranged events such as concerts with a variety of entertainers both locally and from more further afield.
Full details of all the events taking place throughout the eight days of the Festival will be published in an official souvenir programme which will be available from many retail outlets around Downham Market from the end of April.
