About Cruising Monthly and the
Coastal Cruising Association

There is no shortage of magazines or organisations catering for those with either a professional or leisure interest in the world of shipping. While many of these cover the ferry industry their coverage is often limited to major cross channel and domestic routes and have little to say about the smaller ferry or trip boat services around the coasts of Britain and Ireland.

The Coastal Cruising Association (CCA), a not for profit organisation, fills this gap. While we follow the main UK and Ireland ferry operators we also cover the many smaller ferry services and trip boat operators that provide oportunities to enjoy some of the country's finest coastal scenery as well as Britain and Ireland's extensive network of inland waterways.

The range is incredible - from 60,000 ton super ferries crossing the North Sea to 12 passenger ferries crossing the River Thames - from ships like the WAVERLEY and BALMORAL which preserve the world of the traditional coastal pleasure steamer to the latest state of the art trip boats.

The CCA was formed in 1964 with the aim of encouraging the use of ferry, pleasure steamer and trip boat services of all kinds. To this end the CCA;

Publishes Cruising Monthly, a monthly magazine packed with news about ferries, pleasure steamers and trip boats. The emphasis is on the present with news of what is happening now - services that can be used today - rather than on maritime history. As well as covering the British and Irish scene Cruising Monthly includes a regular European Digest which provides a comprehensive summary of ferry and trip boat developments in continental Europe.

Arranges special cruises, providing members and others with opportunities to enjoy coastal, river or canal excursions that are not normally available to the public.

Membership of the Coastal Cruising Association costs £18 for one year and includes 12 copies of
