Special fundraising cruise

Special fundraising cruise aboard CRUISER (and/or other vessel) from Greenock Victoria Harbour (10:00-16:00), Helensburgh (10:30-16:30) via James Watt Dock to Clydebank (12:50-13:10) for a non – landing cruise (the first for many years) up the River Cart, under the Inchinnan Bridge and turning at Babcock’s Basin - weather and other circumstances permitting. Inclusive fare £30 including cold buffet, home baking and tea and coffee. In addition a ‘side-trip’ for a limited number of passengers is available aboard FENCER on the Forth & Clyde Canal from Bowling Harbour (09:30–12:15) to Dalmuir (10:45–11:00), passengers transferring by preserved MacBrayne coach from Bowling to Clydebank to join CRUISER for the trip up the River Cart. Tickets as soon as possible from Mr I Quinn, 8 Airthrey Ave., Glasgow G14 9JR, enclosing SAE with cheques made payable to Mr I Quinn. Any profit made will be donated to the Waverley Steam Navigation Company.

Christmas Cruise to the Avon Gorge

A special Christmas cruise from Bristol through Bristol City Docks and Cumberland Basin Locks into the Avon Gorge, aboard the BAGHEERA. The cruise departs from the S S Great Britain car park at 11:15 and Temple Quay (adjacent to Temple Meads Station) at 11:30, returing to Princes Wharf by 14:30. On arrival at Princess Wharf, passengers are invited aboard BALMORAL for the PSPS Bristol Channel Branch Christmas Social – cost £2 each payable on the day, to cover cost of mince pies, coffee or tea. Princes Wharf is 10 minutes walk from the S S Great Britain. BAGHEERA is a fully glass-enclosed and heated vessel.

Tickets cost £20, including morning tea or coffee and cold buffet lunch. Tickets available from Mr P J Murrell, 2 Rockleaze Court, Herbert Road, Clevedon, BS21 7ND – please make cheques payable to P J Murrell and enclose SAE. All profits will be donated equally between PSPS and CCA.

PSPS Scottish Branch Festive Lunch cruise aboard CRUISER from Greenock Victoria Harbour (11:00-15:30) to Loch Goil, with time ashore at Blairmore, including splendid buffet luncheon on board. Tickets cost £26.95 (£19.95 for children) for the cruise and lunch, or £17.95 (£11.95 for children) for cruise only and are available from Mr D J Docherty, 12 Birchgrove, Houston, Renfrewshire, PA6 7DF. Please enclose an SAE and make cheques payable to PSPS. Bookings close 18 December.

CCA Annual General Meeting and Dinner

CCA Annual General Meeting and Dinner at the Rendezvous Hotel, Skipton, North Yorkshire, plus special cruise on the Saturday aboard DALESMAN (or COBBYDALE) from Skipton along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and a further cruise on the Sunday, along another section of this canal from Foulridge aboard MARTON EMPEROR, with connecting preserved bus from and to Skipton. The closing date for bookings is Friday 22 January 2010.

Scheduled Cruises

This section provides a listing - with links to web sites - of shipping companies offering scheduled cruises using larger ships.

There are, of course, many other companies that also operate scheduled cruises using smaller ships and boats. Details of these will be added to the directory section in due course.

Brixham Belle Cruises

Operate scheduled passenger cruises from Torquay and Brixham to Dartmouth and the River Dart using the TORBAY BELLE, formerly Caledonian MacBrayne's LOCHMOR.


Caledonian MacBrayne

While primarily a ferry operator a number of this company's West Highland routes provide attractive cruising opportunities.


Clyde Marine Services

Operates a programme of cruises on the Clyde estuary from Greenock using the former Denny tender THE SECOND SNARK. See directory section for links to other services provided by this company.


The Dorset Belles

Operate cruises/ferry services linking Bournemouth, Poole and Swanage - plus day trips to Yarmouth (Isle of Wight), cruises to Brownsea Island and Jurassic Coast cruises during the summer season.


Gosport Ferry

Operates a programme of cruises on the Solent from Gosport.


Isles of Scilly Steamship Co

Day excursions to the Isles of Scilly from Penzance.


Lundy Company

Cruises to Lundy Island from Ilfracombe and Bideford.


Mersey Ferries

Sight-seeing cruises in the River Mersey, Manchester Ship Canal cruises between Liverpool and Manchester and occasional cruises in Liverpool Bay.


Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle

Cruises from the Medway towns in an operational coal fired paddle steamer.


Solent Steam Packet

Cruises, mainly in the Solent area, by the preserved passenger carrying steamship SHIELDHALL.


Waverley Excursions

Operate the preserved paddle steamer WAVERLEY and preserved motor vessel BALMORAL on an extensive programme of cruises around the coasts of Britain.
