What does a Doula do?

I meet mothers to be before the actual  due date and work with the Alexander Technique for a good pregnancy. On request, I accompany women and their partners through all stages of pregnancy and child birth. This includes both preparing them before the event both physically through Alexander lessons and practically, by helping to prepare a birth plan. I attend the birth starting from labour until Mother and child have settled together,

I regard my role as making sure that the woman gets the birth she wants with all the support she needs.  This can be either in hospital or at home.  The support I provide has been highly appreciated by mothers having a home birth for the first time or mothers that suffered a birth trauma previously.

What about partners?

The partners, their well being and their confidence during labour and birth are crucial for  the mother  and their peace of mind. Partners greatly value my service since they can give the best they can during the very special time. They receive a level of emotional support they need in order to be with the mother as she needs it.
