I have become more confident and positive. My memory has improved.  My walking has improved -  I am walking properly. Thank you. “ MS sufferer 2009

I [...] now understand why I was told to embark upon this journey - I have accepted that I  can let go of certain defences that I have used to this point in my life. [...]  I hunch my shoulders. Though I have not yet managed to completely rid myself of this physical habit, the understanding of its probable course has allowed me to be far more aware of it and  my friends and family have all commented on not only the physical, but also the emotional change that I have experienced. [...] I am sure that all that  I have learnt from her will be invaluable in my development not only as an actor, but as a person.” Postgraduate Student  in Performing Arts 2008

I feel more personal growth can be achieved in one session of psychodrama than in several sessions of ‘talking’ therapies.  This is because you can see what it is that you are trying to work through, it brings it out of your head and enables you to have an altogether different perspective on it.  It’s really a very powerful process, even in a one-to-one session although I found being part of a Group a more multi-dimensional experience because in a way everyone is working at the same time.    SS 2009

“Thank you for all your help and support throughout the last 9 months and for your dedication through an incredibly long labour! It was a great comfort to all of us to have you.“  Family 2003

“What I gained from working with  Doris: I really valued the quality of her support and encouragement whilst I focused on my body. My focus in the final weeks of pregnancy was on preparation for labour, therefor my knowledge of the Alexander Technique was minimal and I can only share the way that we felt about the treatment Doris gave us. It was a deeply relaxing experience for me. It was both powerful and gentle. In the final stage of pregnancy, I felt light and agile, as if my body had confidence and took pleasure in its state. My partner experienced similar pleasure during and after treatment.”

Whilst the treatment remains something of a wonderful mystery to me, the instructions we received from Doris was given with clarity, encouragement and humour, backed up by her exhaustive knowledge about pregnancy and childbirth. We gained confidence as we learnt  about positions for active birthing; about how to control  speed of labour, and how D [partner],  and I could relax throughout the whole process. Happy Childbearing!” HC second time mother 2002

“When the time came for my labour I approached it more calmly than I had previously. Doris was with throughout the labour, supporting and challenging. I relied heavily ly on C [partner] for physical and emotional support and we used many of the techniques that Doris had taught u. Due to this I was able to keep moving during my labour - something I had utterly failed to do previously. This led to me feeling more in control.” SS third time mother 2003
