This is the first of three songs written for a Sunday School presentation based on the story of Daniel in the Lions' den. It is intended to be slightly humorous.
Oh King may you forever
live - you're mighty and you're gracious too;
And special honour we should give to such a special king as you.
And consequently we suggest the issue of a new decree,
That nobody can make request, except to you, your majesty.
This law will last for thirty
days - no one must pray to God or men.
If anybody disobeys, we'll throw them in the lions' den.
We're glad, Oh king, that you agree - the paperwork will be arranged;
A law signed by your majesty may not be subsequently changed
Our little scheme is working
great;
Now all we have to do is wait!
