This is first of three songs written for a Sunday School presentation on the story of David and Goliath. This particular song is based on the events recorded in 1 Samuel 16. The music was originally developed for a Yamaha keyboard, but the midi file on this website has been re-configured for a Soundblaster AWE 64 card to give roughly similar sounds. Actual results will depend on the sound card in your computer.
Jesse gathered with his
sons,
The day when Samuel
came,
To anoint the future king,
The one whom God would name.
Which one? Which one?
Which one will be the king?
Eliab was the firstborn
son,
He looked so big and strong;
Surely he must be the one?
But God said, "No, you're wrong."
Which one? Which one?
Which one will be the king?
People aren't always
what they seem
Though they may look the part.
Man looks on the outside,
But the Lord looks on the heart.
One by one the brothers
came,
Seven of them in all.
Samuel said that none of them
Was chosen by the Lord.
Which one? Which one?
Which one will be the king?
David, caring for the sheep,
Was Jesse's youngest son.
He was brought to Samuel,
Who said, "He is the one!
This one! This one!
This one will be the king.
This one! This one!
This one will be the king."
