Marine Bill Consultation Meeting

14th June 2006, National Lobster Hatchery, Padstow

The Marine Bill National Consultation meeting was held in response to a national consultation announced by Defra in late March. The meeting aimed to present detailed background to the Marine Bill consultation and provide the opportunity for local contributions to the consultation.

Despite the short notice, there was considerable interest from most aspects of the marine sector (from alternative energy sources, through education to more obvious marine environment bodies) and the 10 attendees represented local marine SMEs, NGOs and local government. After discussion, a document contributing to the consultation was sent to Defra by their 23rd June deadline. There was excellent feedback on the day with positive comments on establishing new contacts in the sector, the uniqueness of the event, the submitted outcome and prospects for the future.
