Seijitsu Senior Course

Seijitsu Weapons & Aikido course took place on Sunday 9th March at Castle Vale. The course was split over 2 sessions so that all students received half a day weapons and half a day Tai Jutsu, with tuition by Shihan Bayliss, Sensei Marsh and Sensei Hodgetts. The course appeared to be well received but, as always, we are interested in your and feedback so please feel free to contact Shihan Bayliss with your comments.
Congratulations to Lewis Hopkins who was awarded Senior Green Belt on his "coming of age!"

New Members

We are pleased to welcome to the latest club to join Seijitsu Aikido Ryu. Kogusoku Aikido are based in the North East of England; Full details can be found on their website via our Friend & Family Pages.

Seijitsu Junior Course

Seijitsu Juniors from Dragonfly and Molly's Aikido came together for our February course and grading on 24th February. All students worked very hard on a range of traditional Aikido and practical combat drills. It's fair to say that students and instuctors alike had a great day! Well done and congratulations on your new (well-earned) grades.

Dragonfly Junior Pages

Dragonfly Aikikai Juniors Now have a web page of their own and the members will decide what is reported in this section. Once fully incorporated there will be a link from our home page but for now click here for accesss.

2008 Course Programme

A full Programme of Seijitsu courses is now posted on the Course & Grading page. Please check your course requirements for your next grade and put these dates in your diary. A great deal of time and effort goes into planning, organising and running these courses for the benefit of our members so you are encouraged to attend whenever possible. None members are always welcome and insurance can be arranged on the day.

BAB National Course

Shihan Bayliss would like to thank all of those Seijitsu members who supported their Organisation by attending the BAB National Course at Bispham Abbey on 29th September.

Clubmark

We are pleased to announce that Dragonfly Aikikai has been awarded Clubmark status. Clubmark was introduced in 2002 by Sport England to:

Ensure that accrediting partners apply core common criteria to ensure that consistent good practice and minimum operating standards are delivered through all club development and accreditation schemes.
To empower parent(s)/carer(s) when choosing a club for their children.
To ensure that Clubmark accredited clubs are recognised through a common approach to branding.
To provide a focus around which all organisations involved in sport can come together to support good practice in sports clubs working with children and young people.

Clubmark accreditation is awarded to clubs that comply with minimum operating standards in four areas:

The playing programme
Duty of care and child protection
Sports equity and ethics
Club management

A great deal of work went into achieving this status and we believe it represents a positve step forwards for the Juniors in our organisation.
