Autobiography

Introduction
Born in 1932 at a little village called Tarleton near Preston in Lancashire UK although his family origiinated from farming stock in Gloucestershire. Married Joy in 1960 and they have four daughters and two sons and currently thirteen grand children.
Education
Liverpool University graduating with First Class Honours in Electronic Engineering in 1956 .Did research with Prof Derrick Parbrook in Subdepartment of Acoustics. Doctorate on just audible thresholds of harmonic distortion awarded in 1960.
Career Lectured in Electrical Engineering at Salford University from 1959 and in the Building Science Department at Liverpool University. Appointed Reader in the Electrical Engineering Department at Salford University in 1970. Co founder of the Audiology Group in that department.Took earlier retirement in 1983. From 1972 acted as Noise Consultant specializing in forensic auduiology until retirement in 1997.
Research Interests Subjective Acoustics, Audiology, Preferred listening levels, Noise Annoyance and Personality, Low frequency noise annoyance. Industrial Audiometry
Recreational Interests Walking, Camping, Reading, Theatre and people watching.
