Procedures

Download an inbound routes map here [pdf document]
Powered aircraft RW 06 RH, RW 24 LH all circuits are to the South of the runway.
All aircraft are to join down wind for the runway in use.
Aircraft intending to fly in the ATZ must be equipped with two-way RTF and be able to communicate with Duxford. In exceptional circumstances, aircraft without two-way RTF may be given prior approval and information to permit them to fly safely in the ATZ.
Aircraft approaching to land at Fowlmere from the west of Fowlmere may make their initial RTF call to Fowlmere Radio provided that their intended flight-path will not penetrate the Duxford ATZ. Pilots are reminded that unusual events, historic aircraft displays and formation flying are frequent activities at Duxford and are urged to make their initial RTF call to Duxford Information at least 5nm from the ATZ Boundary.
Aircraft intending to penetrate the ATZ should make an initial call to Duxford Information and if no contact, then call Fowlmere A/G on 135.700.
There are no overhead joins or dead side at Duxford to assist in deconfliction of circuit patterns. Pilots will be advised to avoid certain areas of the Fowlmere ATZ for traffic reasons.
Circuit patterns are to the south, with the exception of war birds. Circuits are, mutually agreed between the two aerodromes. It is therefore essential that pilots obtain a briefing from Duxford before departure whether inbound or outbound.
When Fowlmere aerodrome is active, aircraft departing to the west should contact Fowlmere as soon as possible after take-off. Aircraft arriving from the west inbound to Fowlmere should make normal contact with Fowlmere and should not over fly the adjacent bird sanctuary.
Pilots should NOT over fly the villages of Duxford, Thriplow, Whittlesford and Fowlmere and should not over fly the adjacent bird sanctuary, all other villages should be avoided.
Traffic departing Runway 06 continue straight ahead for 2nm before turning. Arriving traffic for Runway 24 join down wind and then position for 2nm final, avoiding over flight of Duxford Village. Traffic departing Runway 24 wishing to turn right, must maintain Runway heading until Royston. All joins from the North, r/w 06 in use, route via Sawston for a down wind join, r/w 24 in use, route via Royston for a down wind join.
