Echoes of the Past

All mechanical clock mechanisms require periodic maintenance. We offer a full assessment and clock repair service. We will always fully assess a clock before commencing a repair and give you our estimated cost.

Please note that some modern mechanical clocks and some Westminster chiming mantle clocks are not always economically viable to repair.

The process is
  • clock is dismantled
  • all clock parts are fully checked for wear and breakage and repaired or replaced as needed
  • clock mechanism ultrasonically cleaned
  • bushed
  • mainsprings checked and either cleaned or replaced
  • clock mechanism reassembled
  • clock fully tested
The above process will take several weeks due to testing depending on the type of mechanism. A clock will not leave our workshop until we are satisfied that it is working to optimum performance.

This is an example of a clock mechanism before cleaning.
