About Edale

Edale is situated in the glorious countryside of the Peak District in Derbyshire. Best known by walkers as the start of the Pennine Way, Edale is also surrounded by many beautiful walks, including the open country of the Kinder plateau.

The Vale of Edale includes around 150 houses mainly grouped in small hamlets or ‘booths’ which are largely centred around the old centres of work such as the farms, mill and railway station. The main booth, Grindsbrook Booth, is in the centre of the valley and contains the picturesque church, primary school, railway station, pubs and cafes.

Edale is a small, but vibrant, community. It is the determination of local people to keep their community alive by supporting the cornerstones of village life, such as the local school and village hall, as well as the church and Post Office that makes events such as Edale Country Day such a success.
