Edale Fell Race

Edale’s annual Fell Race finishes in the middle of Edale Country Day, only a short staggering distance from the bar, tea tent and barbecue!
The race will be organized by Debbie Smith of Accelerate. For more details please check the website on

Edale Traditional Church Fete (August 2010, date TBC)

Imagine the Vicarage Gardens basking in the sunshine. Tea and homemade cakes under the trees. A jazz band gently playing in the background. The clunk of the coconut shy. Local Edale characters in the stocks.
(Sunshine to be confirmed). Event to start at 2pm.
Contact Elizabeth Wetherall on 01433 670237 for further details.

Edale Horticultural Show (August 2010, date TBC)

Although Edale is not known for having the easiest of growing conditions, there are never a shortage of exhibits at the annual horticultural show. Flowers, vegetables, baking, preserves, eggs, arts and crafts and a well supported children’s section mean there is something for everyone.
Contact Elizabeth Wetherall on 01433 670237 for further details.

Edale Barrel Race & Family Fun Day (September 2010?)

The race in 2009 was rumoured to be the last, however some of the runners aren’t going to let it go that easily. Watch this space to see if the race is on. For those who haven’t seen the race, teams of eight carry a beer barrel (full of water for obvious reasons), from the Snake Pass Inn over the Kinder Plateau to the Nags Head in Edale.
