Ross is an excellent base for a Wye Valley break. The lively town has a range of shops and some very good restaurants and bars.
Ross and its surroundings have plenty to offer the visitor. Hereford, Gloucester and Monmouth are each within easy travelling distance, as is the Forest of Dean.
The Wye Valley walk passes through the town and within 400 yards of Edde Cross House. To the north the walk takes you through the undulating countryside of South Herefordshire, with some excellent views. To the south, the path passes through some of the most dramatic scenery in southern England, on its way through gorges to Symonds Yat, Monmouth and Tintern. Cycle and canoe hire are available locally.
