Robbie our Seamstress
Quite a few years ago now Roger had a nicely embroidered waistcoat, so Eddie asked me to make him one when "Tranters Folly" was formed. It has gone on from there one waistcoat after another until my fingers ached. Then I made the travelling covers for their speakers, music stands and amplifiers. As the years went by new waistcoats have been made and more covers for new equipment. Now I find I have to repair some of the original covers and so it goes on and on ............
A Groupies view.......
As a reward for my input, I go with the group on some of their gigs. The Hardy concerts I find particularly interesting and entertaining. Also, the venues have been very impressive, especially the concert at Stinsford Church where Hardy's Violin was played by Roger, Nick played the new organ and Eddie read the script. Other outings have included Barn Dances in a selection of village halls. It is amazing to watch how people after the first few tentative steps, soon get into the swing of country dancing.
Geriatric Tap Dancer me ????
Travelling with the group to London's Olympia for the annual CAMRA Beer Festival I was given, on arrival an 'Entertainers' badge. A few minutes later I was accosted by a slightly inebriated young man clutching a pint of real ale who asked me what entertainment I provided,. Before I could utter a word Eddie, who was standing behind me, informed my newfound friend that I was in fact one half of the famous 'Geriatric Tap Dancing Team'. Whether the young man remained upright long enough to discover this was not true I shall never know......
