News Post Leader - October 04 - Junior Great North Run

In the recent Junior GNR, several Blyth Running Club Junior members ran the race for the first time. The 4K race started outside the Baltic Centre, then crossed the swing bridge and finished by the Millennium Bridge. Liam Baister managed to get a good starting position amongst the 4000+ starters and seemed very comfortable in his first GNR and finished in the top 100, while both Craig Lamb and Michael Bradley seemed to enjoy the occasion. Sophie Cunningham was another one enjoying the occasion as did brother and sister Jacob and Ismay Kitson, with 9 year old Jacob finishing in front of 11-year old Ismay. However, the best run by a Blyth runner must surely be that of 6 year old James Young who finished as second boy and third place overall, out of a 1000 runners in the Under 8’s mini Great North Run – a tremendous effort!
