Autumn Visit                  

Newby Hall, near Ripon, North Yorkshire

Newby has 25 acres of award-winning gardens, including one of Europe’s longest double herbaceous borders. It was created in the early 1920’s and is still evolving today. Sitting within these gardens is a Georgian House, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, with a Robert Adam interior which has been fully restored. Other attractions are a Woodland Discovery Walk including a contemporary Sculpture Park, miniature railway and boat trips on the river.

 

There is a café available for lunch with a designated picnic area for those who wish to cater for themselves.

 

The price includes entry to all the above, with guided tours of the House and Gardens (each lasting approx. 1 hour), and also the driver’s gratuity.

 

Time of departure:    9.00am from the Barlow Institute, Edgworth

Picking up point;       9.15am Bromley Cross Railway Station

Return:                 Leave at 5.00pm.  Back in Edgworth by 7.00pm

 

The guided tours are split into 2 groups to make them more manageable, i.e.

 

Group A                        Garden – 12.00;                  House – 2.30pm

Group B                        House – 12.30pm:               Garden – 2.30pm

 

Please indicate on booking whether you have a preference and we shall try to accommodate you.

 

To make your reservation, fill in a Booking Form and return with your payment to Barry Scanlon  On receipt of this, tickets will be issued which will reserve your seats on the coach. Confirmation of which guided tour group you are on will be issued on the coach.

 

Please also provide your RHS membership number. This will speed up entry on the day, but do not forget to take your card with you in case there are any queries.
