Have you found a scorpion in the UK?

If you have found a scorpion in the UK, please take a moment to check that it really is a scorpion, as some common insects are occasionally mistaken for scorpions.

You may have found a Devil's Coach-Horse Beetle. This beetle has a thick short tail which it can curl up over its body and is quite often mistakenly identified as a scorpion, although it doesn't have claws. It looks pretty menacing and it can give a sharp bite, otherwise it is harmless.
