Following requests for details of the Shire families in my stories All That I Had and The Adventures of Tom and Barard I’m happy to oblige with the following. Names that are underlined are taken from Appendix C of Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, although in the case of Elanor and Fastred parentage has been changed/invented. These beautiful characters are not mine, and I make no money from them. I merely borrow them because I love them, with grateful thanks to JRR Tolkien.


FAMILY OF SAMWISE and ROSIE GARDNER (formerly Gamgee):

Elanor* (b 1421) m Fastred (Warden of the West March, eldest of Pippin’s illigitimate children):
Children: Elfstan, Primula, Frodo, Astred, Rosemary, Mirabella
*Elanor is included here since she was adopted by Sam

Frodo (b 1423. Mayor; lives at Bag End) m Rosie-May (distant cousin on the Cotton side)
Children: Holfast, Celandine, Hazel, Holwise, Joy

Rose (b 1425) m Beregond (illigitimate son of Peregrin Took; lives at the Grange, Hobbiton)
Children include Berry (eldest son)

Merry (b 1427) and Pippin (b 1429). Co-owners of the Mill at Hobbiton married to twins Poppy and Peony Goodbody. Children: numerous.

Goldilocks (b 1431) m Faramir Took, Thain; eldest legitimate son of Peregrin Took; lives at Great Smials. Children: Paladin III, Hildir, Saphire, Farard

Hamfast (b 1432) married, with children; farms the old Noakes farm with brother Bilbo.

Daisy (b 1433) m Théodoc Brandybuck (Master of Buckland, eldest son of Meriadoc Brandybuck)
Children: Léodoc, Éomas, Meric, Lily

Primrose (b 1435) m Fenigar Bolger (youngest son of Fredigar Bolger)

Bilbo (b 1436) married, with children; farms the old Noakes farm with brother Hamfast.

Ruby (b 1438) m Hildimir Took (third legitimate son of Peregrin Took; owns vinyards in the Southfarthing)

Robin (b 1440) m Éowyn (daughter of Meriadoc Brandybuck. They live at Crickhollow)
Children: Éomund, Tomas

Tolman (b 1442, Merchant of Minas Tirith), lives with Barard Took, youngest child of Peregrin Took
