No this has not come from another planet......It is in fact our prototype auto tracking video receiver. This gadget means we no longer need someone to point the aerial at the plane as it automatically searches out the direction of the strongest signal. Under the dome is a patch type aerial on a rotating platform which is directly connected to a receiver module to ensure no signal is lost. The mode of operation is simple, the aerial tests the signal strength either side of its current position and turns to the strongest signal, it then repeats the process. It is so successful that it can track the plane even when the video is so weak there is no picture to view ! |
