Annie Sloan event: 'junk into jewels'
The Secondhand Superstore often has excellent quality furniture in stock, so you may find a visit provides you with an exciting bargain! Other items of course have seen better days, yet with a bit of time and effort could be transformed into something personal and unique. To give customers some ideas of how to transform someone's cast-off into something stunning, we have arranged a special demonstration in the store, on Saturday morning, 7th March 2009, from 9.30 until 12 noon. (This is a rescheduled date: we had to postpone the event from the original date of 7th February because of snow and resultant treacherous driving conditions in Oxfordshire.) We are delighted that Annie Sloan, writer, interior decorator and paintmaker, will come along and show us some ideas and techniques, using her internationally renowned paints.
We are asking a donation of £20 for a ticket to this fundraising event, to include coffee and tempting homemade cakes! Places are strictly limited, however, so do please book early. To read more about Annie's work, including her Headington shop, visit www.anniesloan.com. For further details, please see our recent newsletter, event details and booking form (bearing in mind that "7th February" should now read "7th March"!)

snowball lunches nowball Lunches
Our series of Snowball Lunches is underway, following October's unseasonal offering of the white stuff! Members of the Emmaus Oxford Events Committee have been setting the ball - or snowballs - rolling by inviting five(or more) friends to a meal,at which they make a donation to our charity. These guests subsequently invite four friends, each of whom then entertains three more, and so it continues. It only takes simple arithmetic to realise that large numbers of people could get involved - and a considerable sum of money raised! So you may receive an invitation, or indeed have already taken part.
