Diploma in Mindfulness-based Yoga and Meditation
starts may 2010 in London.

Mindfulness Education was set up in December 2007 (then known as ‘Centre for Yoga Studies & Development’) with the goal of providing practitioners with the opportunity to develop core competencies in Mindfulness-based Yoga Teaching. Our current training, leading to a Diploma in Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation (Level 1), has been designed to cover the most important principles of human anatomy and physiology as applied to a mindful approach to yoga practice, as well as focusing on giving practitioners the opportunity to develop their own personal practice.

The training is interested in providing individuals with the space and tools to investigate how yoga and meditation can be effectively integrated in daily life as a formal practice of healing for both physical and psychological wellbeing. In addition, the course explores methodologies that are are client centred, putting individual's needs first.

Particular to this training is the focus on personal development and excellence in teaching which is maintained by ongoing supervision throughout the year. The course has attracted practitioners from a diverse range of backgrounds (health practitioners, complementary therapists, teachers) who wish to integrate elements of Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation practice in their current work, and who wish to teach mindfulness-based yoga and meditation in the private and voluntary sectors, and in the NHS.

2009/10 Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation Trainees

This training differs from other Yoga training programmes because of its emphasis on mindfulness practice and mindful living, thus providing students with something beyond professional skills. It is the first training of its sort, and it shares some elements with the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction training programme provided at the Centre for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD. The course does not teach yoga in the context of hindu theology or any other form of religious beliefs. Instead, the course aims to provide students with the latest developments of mindfulness-based yoga and meditation research which can be integrated as formal practice of physical and psychological healing into daily life. In addition, classes are limited to a maximum number of 10 trainees. This ensures that trainees receive high quality teaching and supervision, in an environment that meets their needs.

Upon successful completion of the course your work is fully insured with the Yoga Link, under our own Centre Insurance Scheme written under British Law.

The training will be held at Bodywise Natural Health Centre (Bethnal Green, London) and is taught over 16 sessions, from 2nd May 2010 to 27th February 2011.
