| OBAN- The unofficial capital of the West Highlands, is easily reached by road and rail and is the main port for ferries departing to the inner and outer Hebrides. Many of the ferries can be used for day cruises, and one of the best views of the town, its curving shores and wooded hills, is from a ship entering the bay. In and around the town there are excellent facilities for sports and leisure activities; golf, tennis, bowls, sailing, diving, angling, hill walking, pony trekking, whisky distillery, leisure and sports centre, coach tours and steamer sailings. | |||
