Pilates is a safe and effective body conditioning method.

  What's it for  ?

Who can benefit from Pilates ?

Virtually anybody – from first-time exercisers, the elderly, pregnant and postnatal ladies, those suffering from back pain and recurring injuries as well as tension and stress, to healthy individuals and sports people looking to enhance performance and minimise injuries.

  How is it done ?

Pilates is a safe and effective body conditioning method for people of all ages that was developed 80 years ago by Joseph Pilates. It strengthens the core postural muscles and corrects muscle imbalances so that the body is held in correct alignment, reducing stress on the spine and wear and tear on the joints. The result is a longer, leaner, more upright body that moves more effectively.

Pilates is taught in small classes with a maximum of twelve people to ensure individual attention and focus.
You will be introduced to the basic elements of Pilates– Core Stability, Alignment and Breathing, and as you build strength and co-ordination you will begin to feel and see the difference it can make to your body and life.

  What is it ?

Body Control Pilates is based on the lifelong work of German born Joseph Pilates. A sickly child with rickets and asthma, he developed the 'pilates method' in order to cure his own body. He built on different elements from skiing, gymnastics, yoga, circus-training, weight-training and self defence. During the First World War he worked with injured troops, later briefing his method in New York where for the rest of his life, he ran a studio for elite dancers, actors and top athletes with a focus on injury rehabilitation and sports performance.
