The Village Players (Everton) is an amateur theatre company, formed in 1979, based in the North Nottinghamshire Village of Everton. Welcome to our web site. We hope this will be useful to our customers, patrons, members and all interested in drama and the theatre. Our CommitteeAt the January 2011 AGM, the following committee was elected: Chairman:
David Bardsley Youth PlayersYouth Players caters for 7 - 15 year olds, meets between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday evenings in Everton Village Hall. New members are very welcome. See the Youth Players page for more details.
Next Productions and EventsOur February production, to be staged between 15th and 18th February consists of four of Alan Bennett’s “Talking Heads”: A Chip in the Sugar, Her Big Chance, A Lady of Letters and A Cream Cracker Under the Settee, to be performed in Everton Village Hall, starting at 7:30 pm from 15th to 18th February 2012. See our Next Production Page to book your tickets and to see details of our special pre-theatre dinner offer. On 27th January, 2012 we will be presenting another of our popular cabaret evenings, utilising the Village Ventures Programme and featuring jazz group, Fascinating Rhythm. See more details of this top professional group of international level stars. The evening will include a hot cooked meal and there will be a licensed bar. Singing and Old Time Music HallThe Village Players also have a singing group who perform locally – recent engagements have been for residential care homes and local history societies. We are available for bookings – see details on our singing and Music hall page
We can perform murder mystery evenings within a reasonable travelling distance. Each murder mystery is a unique production, written by our own murder mystery writer, tailored to the event and premises. So far we have performed four successful evenings, our last event being in aid of the Bassetlaw Hospice at Ye Olde Belle at Barnby Moor. Our next event will be on 5th May 2012 for Thorne Rotary Club. MembershipThe players welcome new members to our friendly and inclusive society. Don’t feel you must act – although there is plenty of opportunity for those who do – and for potential directors. There is lots of scope to help backstage, including technical jobs such as lighting, sound and set construction. In addition we organise various social activities including theatre trips.
