GYMKHANA GAMES TRAINING We have again started our games practice on a Sunday morning at the indoor school, South Bottymyre, Inverarity with the kind permission of the RDA. There are 2 groups, juniors, 10 years and under (trained by Ewan McLean) and seniors (trained by Andrew Reid). The session runs from 10am to approx 12 noon and a £2 donation is required per rider.
This is an excellent discipline and helps riders with balance and co-ordination. Please feel free to come along and try it or just come along and watch to see how it is done. For up to date information on the games go to www.anguspc.com - mounted games.
Games dates for your Diary:- Sunday 11 March – Strathearn PC games practice day at Gleneagles. This is a very useful day in order to learn about games. The games trainers will be taking names soon if you are interested. Saturday 19 May - Area 1 Mounted Games Competition at Orkney. (TBC) Angus Pony Club hopes to send 1 Junior Team and 2 Senior Teams. Ferries are available from Aberdeen and Caithness. Orkney are looking into getting block bookings to make it cheaper.
Sunday 22 July – Games Zone finals at Northern Ireland.

Sunday 25 February and Sunday 4 March – Games Rallies 1.30pm to 3.30pm These rallies will take place at the Hillocks, Kingennie with the kind permission of the Reid family. Should the weather be bad please contact Andrew Reid on 01382 350693. Please ride in a bit that you are safe in if you have never tried games before. There will be no charge for these rallies. Please note that proper dress, as detailed in this letter is required for these rallies however, there will only be a safety inspection on tack and hats. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew Reid and his family for all the dedication and help they give to the club with the games.
Saturday 10 March – Triathlon - at Arbroath
Sunday 25 March – Winter Dressage League To be held at Muirlands Farm, Lunanhead, By Forfar with the kind permission of the Fife Family. (Schedule attached).
Sunday 1 April and Monday 2 April – Les Smith Course Les Smith will be instructing on this two day course. The riders will be taught in small groups and both sessions will last about 1 ½ hours. The course is open to members who have attained their D+ test and above and places will be limited.
The 1st day will be held at Eathiebeaton Farm, Monifieth with the kind permission of the Reid family and will consist of a flatwork lesson. The second day will be a X Country lesson at Brechin Castle or a showjumping lesson. Please complete the attached slip if you wish to attend and contact Diana a few days before to get your times. Cost approx £50 – Please pay this at the event.
Thursday 5 April – All ages novice Rally - 1pm to 3pm Venue – Barnton, Kingoldrum, By Kirriemuir, with the kind permission of the McLean Family. Cost £6. Please complete rally slip if interested. Contact Ewan for directions 01575 574814.
Tuesday 10 April – All ages Rally - 1pm to 3pm Venue – Noranbank Farm, Finavon, By Forfar (A90 from Forfar - on the left just past Netherton Tractors), with the kind permission of the Baillie Family. Sunday 22 April – Hunter Trials at Auchlishie - Schedule attached In order for this event to run smoothly we require a number of helpers on the day i.e. jump judges, tack stewards and general helpers. If you or a friend could spare a few hours to help please contact Fiona Anderson on 01307 463341.
Thursday 3 May Showjumping Training To be held at Bractullo Mill, Letham with the kind permission of the Lumgair family. It is open to all age groups but will cater for the more novice rider. Cost £10. Please complete slip if interested and contact Mary a few days before for times.
Tuesday 8 May - Showjumping Training To be held at Hodgeton Farm, Inverkeilor with the kind permission of the Hynd family. It is again open to all age groups and will cater for the more novice rider. Cost £10. Please complete slip if interested and contact Mary a few days before for times. You can put your name down for both showjumping training dates but you may only get one session if we are oversubscribed.
2 and 10 May - Showjumping Training with Sandra Low – Mitchell This will be held at Eathiebeaton Farm, Monifieth with the kind permission of the Reid family. It is open to rider’s age 11 years old and over and able to jump approx 2ft 9. Cost £10 per session. Please complete slip if interested. Contact Diana for times.
