As a new driver you are more likely to have an accident in the first year after passing your test than at any other time in your motoring career.

Per mile of driving, the risk of an accident involving injury or death is about seven times greater for 17-20 years old than for those aged 40 or over.

Drivers under 21 are involved in 15% of all accident deaths.

What can you do ?
After passing your Driving Test you are ready for Pass Plus, the training course that will help you become a better driver and give you a number of other benefits. The course consists of six specially designed training sessions, giving you valuable extra experience and positive driving skills that would otherwise take a long time to acquire. The topics covered are ;-

	In town
	Out of town
	In all weathers
	At night
	On dual carriageways
	On motorways

There is no further test to take and on satisfactory completion of the course you will receive a certificate from The Driving Standards Agency. You will then be entitled to substantial motor insurance discounts from one of the many participating insurers. A saving of 35% off your insurance premium is not uncommon – this will usually more than cover the cost of taking the Pass Plus course.

Due to the limited scope of the Island roads The Way Ahead offers a one-day Pass Plus course, which will give you a minimum of six hours positive driving tuition on the mainland. The course includes extensive motorway training, and the chance to cover any specific route requirements that you may have.
