Falmouth slipped to their second defeat of the season with a late goal defeat at champions Bodmin Town last Wednesday.
The home side overran Falmouth in the early stages of the game, keeping possession with measured passes and their fluent style almost paid dividends on more than one occasion, the best chance falling to Mark Berry who shot wide after 12 minutes.
Town came back into the game and had a spell of domination. Long balls into the box though were wasted as Kevin Miller was able to grab them unchallenged. After 25 minutes, Ollie Gibson picked the ball up, turned into the area and unleashed a shot that brought a fine fingertip save from Miller.
A minute later Miller pushed out a right wing cross as far as Nick Pugliese on the edge of the box and he flashed his shot wide.
Danny O’Hagan saw his header saved by Miller before Jason Chapman was beaten at the other end but Tom Smith was on hand to pass the ball out of trouble.
Tom Chambers was booked a minute before he break for a foul.
Inside the first minute of the second half Bodmin took the lead. One game wonder former Falmouth player Steve Colwill finishing a left foot angled shot after good build up play from his midfield partners.
Jimmy Alexander picked up his third caution of the season on the 47th minute for a foul.
A double substitution proved instrumental for Town as they began to look for an equaliser. Hugh Howlett and Pugliese were replaced by Sean Flynn and Jamie Thomson.
Bodmin made two changes with Nick Campbell replacing Sam Matthews and on 76 minutes Craig Swiggs replaced Colin Marshall
Falmouth’s equalising goal came in the 75th minute. Matt Drummond’s attempted cross was cut out by a defender but the Town striker struck the loose ball like a bullet into the corner of the net from 18 yards.
Falmouth were boosted by the goal and could have taken the lead when Miller managed to get a lucky touch on Drummond’s attempted shot.
The former Town keeper pulled off a good save from Jimmy Alexander in the 82nd minute after Town had been awarded a free kick 29 yards from goal.
Bodmin had a long shot that fell wide a minute later but the home side won the game in the 86th minute. A low 9 yard shot from Colwill was deflected into the corner of the net, beyond the despairing dive of Chapman by Chris Luxton.
Following a niggling challenge on him, Neil Slateford was booked for a revenge attack as time ran out for Falmouth.
