Falmouth took the lead after only 3 minutes when Danny O’Hagan pounced on a mix up between a Wadebridge defender and his keeper, Ben Hurst to slide the ball into the unguarded net from 6 yards.
However, after 10 mins Jason Chapman in the Town goal raced out to block a Wadebridge attack and brought down a striker on the edge of the box, but referee Paul Christmas awarded a penalty and issued a yellow card to the Town keeper. Former Falmouth striker Glen Squires blasted home from the spot to level the scores.
Things got worse for Town after a quarter of an hour when Chapman collided with an onrushing Wadebridge player and sustained a head injury which resulted in him having to be replaced by reserve team keeper Bryan Scoffin.
Midway through the half, Ben Hurst made a great save from Jimmy Alexander’s rising shot and just tipped it over the bar.
10 minutes later, Alexander hit a screaming 20 yard free kick which struck the crossbar with Hurst stranded.
Just before the break, Wadebridge launched a breakaway attack and the ball was fed out to Squires on the right. He cut in past his marker and slotted the ball home past Scoffin to give the Bridger’s the lead against the run of play.
Town replied through Tom Barwell, who played a good 1-2 with O’Hagan who hit a shot across the goal which went inches wide of the far post.
Ryan Fice came on for the second half to replace the injured Liam Eddy and after 66 minutes his header, following a corner, was cleared off the line as it looked to be destined for the back of the net.
Wadebridge held on resolutely to take all three points despite Town throwing everything at them in the remainder of the half.
