Situated in
the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with a picturesque view
of the Dale of Glaisdale, the Barn backs onto Glaisdale Rigg (which is on
the route of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk) and is an ideal base
for
walking and exploring the North York Moors. It is within easy reach of the
city of York, Heartbeat Country, the North York Moors Steam Railway and the
old town of Whitby, which is 10 miles away. The award-winning village of Glaisdale is within half a mile and has a church, general shop/Post office,
a butcher and pubs serving food.
The compact
accommodation which is ideal for two people has been tastefully converted
from an original stone-built barn and has exposed beams and natural stone
walls.
It
consists of a combined kitchen and sitting room on the ground floor with an
adjoining shower room / toilet. An open-tread stairway* leads to the
twin-bedded room on the first floor (the former hay-loft). The south-facing
windows all look over the Dale.
The barn is well equipped with colour TV, microwave, radio/cassette player, fridge and electric cooker, has electric night-storage heating. There are facilities for hanging wet clothes and drying boots. Electricity is included, and beds are made up prior to your arrival. The main house has a large secluded garden and you are welcome to use the area in front of the Barn.
The Barn is available for occupation at 1:00 pm on the day of your arrival and should be vacated by 10:00 am on your day of departure. Bookings will be accepted for weekly lets or short breaks.
The Barn is non-smoking and we regret that no pets are allowed.
