This was the night that Damo Suzuki’s Never-Ending Tour came to Brighton
Damo of course rose to fame in the early 1970s singing with seminal krautrawkers CAN
In recent years, Damo has been travelling the world, playing on his Never-Ending Tour with the Damo Suzuki Network—local musicians (‘sound carriers’) whom Damo assembles to play concerts of improvised instant composition
There are no rehearsals beforehand, and often the musicians will not have even met each other before they arrive at the venue!
Feline1 was both honoured and delighted to be allowed to join in the fun that night. Mindful of the Japanese angle, I brought my knobtastic Yamaha CS-30 synthesizer to play with.
The frankly rather famous E-da has been a member of that awfully noisy Japanese band The Bore doms, is a founder member of AOA, and currently has numerous solo projects on the go…
Mr Chris Anderson of La Mômo, Map & Departure Lounge graced the stage with a dazzling selection of windblown reeds, strummed strings and a heinous digital keyboard :-)
The remaining sound carrying was done by Brighton’s boldest krautpunk trio Shark.
Shark course include the (in)famous Heidi Heelz, known for hosting such nights (often with Miss Sarah Pain) as Chicks with Decks, When I Plugged Her In She Just Blew Up and indeed CPL 593H.
Cute little support band were Bats with Lashes, but I have to confess I didn’t actually see them play as I was upstairs in the kitchen eating pasta
