Lost Souls Skull
The album cover and booklet artwork for All The Lost Souls was designed by Bose Collins. The cover features a photo of James' face made from a mosaic of (approximately) 1287 smaller photographs of James of varying ages from childhood to the present day.
James asked us not to use his face on the cover – so we put it on 1,000 times.Bose Collins
There are also four similiar mosaics in the album booklet making up the images of a skull, a lightbulb, a dove and a butterfly. The images of the Skull and butterly designs combined were actually used earlier in a poster advertising a secret Myspace show which took place in New York 31st May 2006. During an interview on Paul O'Grady's TV show broadcast in the UK on ITV on December 17th 2007, James stated that the Skull design was originally going to be the albums front cover of All The Lost Souls. He stated "The record company thought that was a little scary, so rather than that we ended up with far too many of my ugly face on there". The album's logo has 'James Blunt' spelt out in brightly coloured cropped letters taken from photographs of different neon signs. The various black & white photographs of James in the recording studio were taken by Patrick Fraser.
James' ackowledgements on the album notes for All The Lost Souls:
" Book keeping by Colonel Chuck & The Command Module. Tour Management by Bobble and the Freeloaders. Moral guidance from Billy Bedlam and The Post Raffelites. Styled, Manufactured and housed by Carrie Fisher. Additional thanks to: all at Custard Records who found me; Atlantic UK who broke me (in every way); the team at Atlantic US who have become great friends; the many people at Warner worldwide; the Twenty First Artists family; Gibson Guitars; Yamaha Pinaos; Conway Studios; Free Trade Agency and High Road Touring; My lawyer at Russels; and MBC PR who pick up the pieces... "
