The album cover and booklet artwork for Back To Bedlam was designed by Bose Collins. A blending of swirling art nouveau style borders and shapes combined with silloueted objects, figures and creatures alongside photographs of James. James' biography leaves us little to add, only to explain where we fit in. A creative collaboration between James and his management team resulted in Bose Collins designing the artwork or his critically acclaimed debut album and designing his website and merchandising. The dreamy, floating Alice in Wonderland inspired illustrations are a reflection of James' extraordinary experiences from Kosovo to Buckingham Palace, some shared ones since, continue to inspire.Bose Collins Designs worth noting are the Monkey King, a sillouette of a wild dancing monkey with a crown upon its head. A hot-air balloon containing a crest made from a rainbow, a horse and a rabbit, with the inscription Lux Tua Vis Mea (the Blount family motto). The image of soldiers raising a flag on the Cry/No Bravery lyrics page is similiar to the iconic photograph 'Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima' taken by Joe Rosenthal of U.S. soldiers in 1945 during the war in the Pacific. The artwork on the top-side of the CD disc is a purple background with the single image of the James Blunt Pill, a green and white pill similiar to a prozac pill. The typeface for the James Blunt/Back to Bedlam logo is also in an art nouveau style.
James' ackowledgements on the album notes for Back To Bedlam:
