North Ferriby United 0 - 5 Guiseley

Three goals in a seven minute spell saw North Ferriby press the self destruct button for the second time in as many home games.

Having suffered a 4-0 home drubbing on the opening day of the season Ferriby capitulated yet again. It now seems them rooted to the foot of the Unibond Premier Division table with a lot of work to do.

For the first half hour there was nothing to choose between the sides but from the 36th minute the tide turned. Manager Neil Parsley pointed to a distinct lack of confidence in his side and has hinted at possible changes ahead of Saturday’s home game with Ilkeston.

“We got what we deserved today as we were beaten by a better side and we contributed greatly to our downfall by individual errors,” he said.

“There is a plain lack of confidence now due to our poor start to the season. I don’t think this can be pointed at one individual as you have to look at it collectively.

“I think it’s time to look at new playing staff and see what’s available at this time of year and what we can bring in with the budget and the financial constraints of the football club.

“It’s not the start of the season we wanted and not the one I envisaged either but we are where we are. Conceding thirteen goals from four games tells its own story in my book.

“Today we have come up against a good side that will be in the top three come the end of the season from what I know and have seen in the Unibond League.”

The first half was very much on an even keel with chances for Ferriby from Gary Bradshaw and the hardworking Joel Hartley. But with nine minutes to go to halftime Guiseley, managed by former Hull City boss Terry Dolan, hit the front.

A superb cross from Guiseley left back Leon Henry saw the home defence stand still for Marc Smith to head the ball home. Then two goals in two minutes saw the game over as far as Ferriby were concerned.

The 42nd minute again saw Henry have room on the left as he put in a cross which James Hanson headed on for Smith to grab his second. Then a minute later poor defending saw Hanson find the back of the net for 3-0 at halftime.

Positional changes by Parsley at halftime saw the introduction of David Cook and Graham Botham. Botham joined the defence and captain Paul Foot went up front with Bradshaw.

It mattered little as the visitors made it 4-0 on 68 minutes when Guiseley substitute Marc Bett slotted the ball home through Antoni Pecora’s legs. Bett finished things off six minutes from time with a header which gave his side a resounding victory.
