Report by Mark Chestney An error of judgement from Ferriby keeper Antoni Pecora in the last minute unfortunately saw Worksop salvage a point from this basement battle. He came out to try and take a cross into the box which he didn’t need to and in a mix up hauled down Curtis Bernard. Andy Wright stepped up to beat the keeper and give his side a share of the spoils. Up until that time the Ferriby defence had remained rock solid giving the keeper very little to do. Ferriby were leading 1-0 through a Gary Bradshaw goal and it could well been more. “It was definitely two points dropped rather than a point gained,” admitted Ferriby manager Neil Allison. “They will be pleased to have got a point as we gave them very few chances all night. It was another gutsy performance from the lads and one they know they could have won. “We got our noses in front from a penalty and maybe if Braddy had made it two we would have been comfortable. Unfortunately we came up with an error late in the game and they got a point.” Ferriby worked hard but lost some momentum especially in the first half when Ben Morley went off injured. They also lost Matty Bloor in the second half and had to work hard to compensate the loss. The only real chance of the first half came from a move involving Town’s Steve Robinson and Andy Wright. This led to a shot from Kevin Sanasy but Pecora was equal to it. Town could also have taken the lead on 48 minutes when Robinson again created a chance. This time it was Barnard who turned his marker but put his shot wide of the upright. United’s patience paid off on 55 minutes when Gary Bradshaw netted after a penalty miss. It came after Chris Bolder foray into the area saw him fouled by Kevin Davies. The initial shot was saved by Town keeper Stephens Hernandez but Bradshaw followed up to crash the rebound into the net. Then as the game went on Ferriby seemed to get stronger. They could have sealed the game if Bradshaw had converted another chance on the hour. He was one on one with Hernandez but took the ball a step too far and he hit the keeper and the chance went with it. Then with just seconds left Pecora came for a ball which wasn’t his and he ended up giving away a penalty. Wright stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to snatch a point for the home side.
