24th Dec The Twist band comp final.

PANTS! PANTS! PANTS! PANTS! PANTS! In case you haven't guessed yet. This torrent of Pants is the follow through to us not winning the Battle of the bands. Some may say we can’t blame them for not realizing they had the Best band in the Whole World, Ever! (My opinion of course) Playing in There midst. But we do! They Suuuuuck!

Now back to reality. Strange night, Good but strange! Personally I don’t think any band played to their best. All have been stronger in previous rounds. The Finishing order was virtually reverse of what everyone had predicted with the Crazy 88 who everyone had written off taking the prize. Congrat's to them.

Thanks to all you peep's who come out to support us..... pants

5th Dec The Twist band comp.

Review by Neil Jones, The Evening Gazette, Thursday, December 8th, 2005

After several weeks of some of the best bands around doing battle on the Twist stage, we are down to the last eight.
This week saw the first four groups in one of the best rock-offs i have seen for a long time.
Right from the first strum, the technical ability of the musicianship and the quality of tunes was top draw.
Colchester's Flatspin were first up with a huge slice of heavy rock and immediately impressed with great head bobbing riffs intermingledd with pure, and at times, quite sweet melodies.
On occasion, the lead guitarist did showboat a little too much but when you're this good why not?

I'll try n get the whole thing up here soon.

8th March 2005, Hope & Anchor.

Review By Neon John

Reculver/Reasonable Doubt/One Louder/Flat Spin

Flatspin open tonite - the guys play a rock style that is influenced by 80's Americana such as the mighty Bon Jovi, with songs soundly based around some tough riffs and a melodic vocal line. Steady drums and driving bass keep things on course, and there are some great choruses and some lively guitar solos. A band you can definitely rock out to - lots of fun. Read full review here

Four bands where meant to be going through (We where one of the four in contention). only two did(one of which was'nt in contention). Still where not bitter! We only do for the crack(not the stuff you smoke either) and all the beautiful peep's who come to see us of course. Where proud to be the band that no one know's what to do with.

November 15th The recording

And the wait goes on. It’s starting to get painful now but all we can do is wait.
Still waiting still waiting still waiting still waiting still waiting still waiting and on and on and on blob blob blob blob…………

Nov 7th Silks Bar Clacton on Sea

update from Stu

Slightly different night for us. You see we're an original's band with about an hour’s worth of material so when we booked our selves in for a three-hour set we had to make up another two hours. In come the songs we’ve never played before. Anyhow it was a bloody funny night with a lot a drunken lunacy. Somehow Stoo managed to defy the laws of gravity and stay on his stool.

Set/ who knows?

Oct 24th Mayhem at the Soundhouse?

update from Stu & Tel

The Soundhouse was a stunning gig considering the bands on the bill were completely mismatched. Still the audience was up for it and we kicked their f*ckin’ arses. All the other bands seemed cool especially Ass from "A means to an end" (sorry if this look's like arse weren’t sure how to spell it - nice chap though). Its just a shame that some raving psycho bitch had to go and spoil the whole f*cking night for us. We sincerely hope that Sean and the Soundhouse don’t suffer any problems due to the trouble caused.

Set/ Take the time, shadow of me, over, why, steer, close my eyes, never be the same.
Affrain, A means to an end, Sweet zombie Jesus, Flatspin.

So onto the next gig 7th Nov @ Silks bar Clacton on sea. Come down, get merry, get wasted and see the best f*ckin’ band in town.

Oct 1st & 5th - Recording finished

update from Stu

Well the recording went just fab all kinds of male bonding going on, can't really say any thing though kids could be reading this and we wouldn't want to warp any minds now. Anyway the recording. We finished Sunday about two hours short so were in again on the Sunday the 05/10/03. This last day of recording went well. We're just waiting on the mixing, mastering and mass production now. It's so close I can almost smell it.

Sep 31st - Soundhouse

Were drafted in at the last minute to support hallolujajohnson, and they didn’t turn up. Never mind though, great night with great interaction from the audience. Tel’s now a fully flegded member of the spin. Thanks to total dark the support band too. Very diverse stuff and with a few more gigs under their belts they could have something rather special.

Sep 15th/16th - Recording again

Studio booked, check! Holiday booked, check! Bavarian midgets booked, check! Porn and marigolds at the ready check! Ignition and lift off. With the Tel man knuckling down with the tunes it shouldn’t be long now. Donations are still more that welcome. Otherwise the drummer’s leaving with a sore ass, think of the drummer man, think of the drummer, guilt trip or what.

Aug 25th - The Brantham Bash

All day event with bands from 2 till 7-8 ish - Bands, barbecue, ice-cream bouncy castles and beer. Now honestly what more could you wish for hu! Hu! Hu! Tell me hu!

The day went swimmingly considering the last minute p.a. hire, two bands pulling out and a last minute filler band. All the bands pulled of great sets and a lot of money was raised for charity. Due to the success of the day there’s already talk of two similar events next year.

Set list; take the time, shadow of me, over, until the morning comes, turn me round, time has come, steer, why, never be the same, close my eye’s and sometimes. Encore night train and sweet child of mine.

Threat, Flatspin, Jacks Family, Fix and bouncing of concrete.

Aug 17th - New Singer

New Singer Tel enters the fray. Following recurring health problems for guitar/vox man Stu (ahhh!), we invited old firstborn singer/ mate down for a couple of rehearsals. Well lock up your children and hold on to your hats people - we just got louder.

July 15th - Soundhouse

Headline slot. Flatspin, Toll and rider.

July 11th - Highwoods Rock Night at the youth club?

Well we're not too sure either but after the response we got from the younger element at the Arts Centre Gig we thought it would be a shame to ignore.

June 16th - Soundhouse semi-finals

Have you seen my voice, I appear to have lost it! Cancelled due to lack of voice. Shame 02 didn't tell the drummer.

May 15th - Rivenhall Roadhogs biker doo!

All went pretty cool and groovy, if the drummer didn't take such a long time we could have done more! the start of a beautiful relationship with Sir Bangalot (the Phat Controller) cheers.
