Yesterday saw the second Olympian National Invitation Competition held at Flic Flac Academy, go without bearly a hitch. The feedback has been great, with a few new touches added, which were learnt from the first running of the comp. Flags,Olympic rings and extensive refreshments, along with new design certificates, and a shed load of medals, gave extra atmosphere!
The event was a credit to all involved and we will see this event blossom in to something big!
Scores from all the rounds are available in the downloads section, where you can view them or save them to your machine, and play with them at your leisure.
Til next time
ps. Next comp is in Malta!
Good Morning, one and all.
Today see's the second running of the Flic Flac Olympian National Invitation, being held at the new gym.
It promises to be an excellent day, with some good comepetition from around the country.
Clubs from Sleaford, Blackpool,Aylesbury,Tarleton,David Lloyds and Turton taking part.
Wishing all the gymnasts, coaches, parents and helpers, that the day goes off well and enjoy!
First and foremost a big SORRY!, that our updates have not been as regular as they used to be.What with the opening of our new addition gym, our first national invitation compeition, training for the Malta International Competition, demonstrations at local schools and fairs and a myriad of other things.
Anyway here we go, don't forget the next Olympian National Invitation Competition is at Flic Flac Academy, this Sunday 28th June.
We will also be attending the Eccleston WI summer garden party in aid of Parkinsons Disease on Sunday 5th July @3pm.
Training is ongoing for Malta with gymnasts flying out at various times in the run up to the event.
Things at the new academy are coming along well, after a few tense moments earlier in the month, but those are all now sorted and the club goes from strength to strength.
So this Sunday will see another team effort from the coaches, helpers and parents, to pull off a 12hr comp that goes without a hitch, well no major ones anyway.
It is with great pride that the new Flic Flac Gym training facility will be officially opened by the one and only
BETH TWEDDLE.
Beth will be filming at the club from 9am til 1pm on Tuesday 26th May 2009.
The footage will be shown just before the schools 6 week holidays, and shown again during the holidays.
All Flic Flac gymnasts can meet Beth after 1pm when she will perform the opening ceremony for our new addition to the club.
I'm sure you can all agree that this is somewhat of a scoop for the club, and shows the backing and encouragement it is getting, not just from all the parents and coaches, but also from some good friends in high places, that can "pull a few strings" to help us to our ultimate target!
Photos to follow!
Oh and by the way here's a little video from the adult class... and there's more to come.
Adult Class Part 2 - as promised!
Thank You all for being patient, but the 2000 plus photos from the Olympian Invitation comp are now on the site.
A huge big thank you goes to Martin who took all the photos you are about to view, rumour has it that he has lost the use of his arms, well for a short while anyway.
Enjoy....
ps Forgot to tell you they are in the photo galleries section of the site..
Message for Katie Alker, could you please get in touch,as we have lost your number during the move, and would like to invite you to adult gym on Sunday!
The first Olympian competition went down a storm.
A packed house from the word go, well 8am in fact, right until the very end at 8pm.
Proceedings went like clockwork and "on time", with everybody doing their bit to make the day a great success. A huge thank you to all who helped on the day, the judges, coaches, helpers, mums, dads and of course all the gymnasts that took part. You are all a huge credit to the sport of gymnastics and to your clubs.
More details from the day to follow, photos are coming, Martin spent 12 hrs none stop picture taking, so he can be forgiven that it may take a few days to sort and upload them all, but you can be assured that as soon as they are available, you will find them here..
Check back soon!
p.s The next comp is in the planning and it's going to be even bigger...
The printing press is red hot, the cameras are being polished and charged, ready for the first Olympian Invitation comp at the expanding Flic Flac Gym Club.
The laptops have been loaded with the relevent software for a marathon 12hr competition session.
Proceedings start at 8am and are due to finish about 8pm all being well.
Report and pictures to follow from our own in house (Mr Seaby), Martin.
So check back soon for details...
Update:
Photos from the Roses 2009 have now been uploaded.
A write up will follow along with the video of the group display, maybe later this evening, so keep coming back....
Chloe and Mandie, with Julie, Joan, Sean and Fiona in tow, travelled down to Birmingham (after wishing our very lovely Nora a happy 80th) on Saturday afternoon. All arrived safely, without getting lost and with julie and Fiona deciding to be brave and go through the city centre!!!!
After checking in we walked to the gym and caught the latter end of Grade 6 competition, then off for tea.
After a lovely meal, it was plaiting time in Joans ace room with panoramics views and Britain's Got Talent on tele.
We were at the gym for 8.30 and the comp got under way at 9.
The girls started on bars and did lovely clean routines, then it was off to the dreaded beam!!
Mandie was up first and gave us a great start with a lovely routines with no falls. Chloe followed with another lovely routine without falls, although Julie and Joan thought she had super glue on her feet because of a massive wobble, and how she didnt fall off we'll never know!! Well held Chloe!!!
Both their floor routines looked lovely as did their vaults.
The end of the round put the Noth West team in first position, with Mandie scoring 48.00 and Chloe 0.4 behind with 47.60.
5 more teams then competed, and the North West went into 3rd place with 4 more teams to compete.
An hour and a half later and a heart attack each for Julie, Joan and Fiona, Mike Moore announced the girls in 3rd place overall.
There were lots of cheers and tears when the girls were given their medals.
The team was made up of Chloe, Mandie, Lois, Jessica and Polly, and what a brilliant team they were, and did the North West proud.
As a club we are absolutely delighted that out of such a small team we had 2 girls in it from Flic Flac.
This just shows the quality and dedication of our gymnasts and coaches, and that the club is going from strength to strength, especially with the expansion of our club in the very near future.
All that is left to say is a very well done girls, you have done your club and the North West proud, keep up all the hard work.
Chloe and Mandie pictured with North West team manager, and their very good friend, Keith Hardy. The girls have the upmost respect for Keith and would like to thank him for all his help and coaching at the training sessions.
As promised pictures and videos clips from AGA @ Aylesbury.
Note video will only be here in this form for a couple of weeks, then will be uploaded.
Gymnast of the month is in the gymnast page.
News reaches Flic Flac Towers.
All 13 gymnasts arrived safely at the AGA.
The have had an intense training day, which has resulted in many tired gymnasts.
As they say "no pain no gain" the experience will stand them all in goodstead for the competitions that lie ahead. Only another 4 days to go, keep up the hard work!!!!
First update for April, and here we have a few photos from the latest interclub. The Flic Flac Interclub competition was held on 29th March 09. It enables the younger gymnasts the chance to show of the new skills and also let them get a feel for what it's like, to perform in front of a crowd, but in a relaxed and friendly environment.
More pictures to follow courtesy of Colin, as there are over 500 to choose from it may take a day or two to sort through them all....
Update time again.
We would like to say a massive Thank You to the following people:
"WARBURTONS BAKERY"

Once again Thank You!
Also a mention to Chorley Sports Forum & Starkie Chapter who have donated money to enable us to buy new equipment.
Thank You!
Warburtons will now join the sponsors wall on the sponsors page!
A little update for you, have uploaded some photos from the Regional Grades, held at Birchwood Center, Warrington. There were a lot more photos but may camera is useless and most came out blurred, so these are the best I could salvage, Enjoy!
Additional info for you, yesterday saw Flic Flac host it's biggest competition yet. With clubs from Turton, Horwich, Skelmersdale and David Lloyd attending. The day was long but rewarding none the less for all those that took part and helped, see the ticker at the top of the page for more details....
Coming soon the Easter Camp and competition at Spalding as well as our Inter-Club Competition, along with a trip to Birmingham for Chloe and Mandie, who made the North West team for the Nationals!!!!
Til next time
Update time again.
Just to let you all know, not that you don't already know, but this weekend sees another first for Flac Flac Gym Club.
Our first competition involving Flic Flac against Turton GC, Skelmersdale GC, David Lloyd GC and Horwich GC.
Talk about a full house.. and that leads me beautifully onto the Easter Bingo, speak to reception for more details.
No! your eyes do not decieve you, you may have seen most gymnasts this week sporting their PG's, it's been PG this week and we hope to have some pics soon, and maybe some video aswell. It is rumoured that Fiona did something spectacular.
Stay tuned for more.
Til next time.
Our gymnasts excelled themselves again!!!
We have another 4 VERY HIGH passes, 2 of them distinctions from today's regional finals at Birchwood, Warrington.
The girls all performed brilliantly, under a lot of pressure with knowing the new, very difficult range and conditioning set had to get a mark of at least 10 to pass the grade. Of course with lots of grit and determination they did it!!!
Chloe and Mandie competed in the National Grade 7. What else can we say.....they were brilliant! Chloe finished in 3rd position and Mandie in 4th. They both passed the grade with distinction. So both girls now go to Birmingham to represent the North West in the National finals. The range and conditioning also awarded separate medals...needless to say they brought two of these home aswell, with Mandie 2nd and Chloe 3rd.
Beth and Cath were in National grade 8, and they were both amazing! Both girls kept their nerve and deservedly finished high up in the scores. Beth came in 7th place, very narrowly missing a place in the finals. Cath , after a minor hiccup on floor, composed herself brilliantly ( a very hard skill to achieve) and did a brilliant range putting her in 4th place within the range set.
I would also like to say personally that the 4 girls deserve the upmost praise for their attitude to their training leading up to grades. Always putting in 100% at every training session, no moaning or groaning!! and taking on board any comments, etc directed at them, and used them to improve. They are a pleasure to coach and work with.
A big thank you too to Georgia, Vic, Emily and Chloe C, who came along to support, the girls really appreciated it. And thanks to Marie from Julie, Ruth and Joan for adult helping, so they could be parents for the day!!
And finally.... thank you so much to 2 very special friends of ours who have helped us so much over the last few weeks.....you know who you are!!!!!!
The next Interclub Competition will be held on Sunday 29th March 2009. Competing times will be given in the week before the event. All Flic-Flac gymnasts are encouraged to take part. This is the perfect opportunity for gymnasts to build experience of competing with the bonus of familiar surroundings. Gymnasts will compete in groups of similar ability. If you are new to competitions and would like a reminder of some useful information see the Welcome Pack in the Reception area.
Gymnast Of The Month For February
Leah Jones
Leah has worked very hard for her grades, which has paid off, resulting in her achieving a distinction, in the Lancashire Grade 13 in age.
To gain a distinction is a very hard achievement, needing 10 full marks more than a normal pass. This also means an average of at least 12 marks over the 5 pieces.
Leah now goes on to represent Lancashire at the regional finals.
A brief update for you all, here are a couple of pics from Grades in Southport this weekend.
A big well done to all the girls!
Well done to all the girls who completed their grades this weekend.
3 distinctions and 7 very high passes!! and 6 off to regionals....... not bad going!!!!!

Hi All,
Yesterday saw the club attend the first European Invitation Competition at our good friends Arabian Gym Club in Milton Keynes, who have a very exciting year ahead what with a "new" purpose built gym and all that!
Most gymnasts travelled down on Saturday with a few more arriving Sunday morning.
As usual the day was a great success, and is a tribute to all at Arabian who put in many hours work to get the event on the road.
Below you will find pictures from the comp, and hopefully more to come, so keep your eyes peeled.
Also you will find pictures from our Halloween party, all in all there are over 200 new photos for your enjoyment.

Hi All,
Just a quick THANK YOU to all those that were able to get down to Blackpool on Saturday night.
The aim was to raise a few quid for the club coffers.
Camp was pitched outside the Sandcastle on South Shore, if full view of the thousands of passers by.
The girls did a brilliant job given that it was as they say "blinking" freezing, a few other choice words could be used, but this a family site.
So once again WELL DONE to you all, and next time let's make it July or August, at least it will be warmer!
As i left my camera in the car, hopefully someone could mail me some shots of the night, so they can posted up for all to see?

An early start was had by all again, last Sunday, 4th November.
We left Chorley at 6.30am, ready for a 9am start at the Lincolnshire Invitational Team Championships in Gainsborough.
The level 4 team, consisting of, team captain, Emily Borrowdale, Bethany Patton, Victoria Platt and Catherine Fiddler, started their competition at 9am.
The level 3 team, team captain, Chloe Bades, Beth Byrne, Hannah Faulkner and Mandie Tither, were in good voice cheering on the girls until their own competition started at 1.30pm.
Against teams from Lincoln, Bicester, Milton Keynes, Sleaford, Spalding, Worksop and Trent Valley, the girls performed brilliantly and were obviously not affected by their early start. The level 4 team excelled themselves with brilliant performances on all pieces, culminating in them taking 2nd place overall and picking up silver medals.
What pleased the coaches even further was the fact that the girls individually came in the top 10 places. Emily 3rd, Bethany 4th, Victoria 5th, and at her first major competition, Catherine finished 9th overall.
The level 3 team went out to compete inspired by the brilliant performances from their team mates and their constant cheering!
The girls performed out of their skins to come away with the overall champions team trophy for first place. They had unbelievable individual places too, with Chloe gaining 1st place overall, closely followed with Beth in 3rd, Hannah in 4th and Mandie 5th.
A special mention must go to Emily, who 5 weeks ago broke a bone in her hand (not doing gym I might add!!) and was in plaster for 3 weeks. Throughout this time Emily attended all her coaching sessions concentrating mainly on conditioning and stretching.
She also helped her team mates by pointing out minor faults and was an invaluable help to the coaches in the run up to the competition.
Her plaster came off 2 weeks ago and sheer determination and guts got her back into top form again.
Not once did she moan or complain, in true Emily style, she just got on with it and all her hard work and effort paid off. Well done Em!
Thanks to all the parents too, who made the journey, and our new friend from America who spent a lot of time chatting to the girls, especially Queen Elizabeth 1 lookalike, Chloe!!
A busy time ahead now with competitions in Southport, Crewe, Dublin, Eccleston, Wales and Malta……all before Christmas!!
Well done again girls and keep up the hard work, we are all so very proud of you.
