A Grant of Arms to Dr. James D Floyd 1998

The Blazon:

Azure, on a chevron Argent [silver] between two wolves' heads erased Or [gold], langued Gules in chief, and a pheon pointed upwards Or in base, a crescent Gules.

The Crest:

A wyvern Or, winged Vert with a collar of Edoch leaves of the last.

The Motto:

Ex Arca [Out of the Ark]

This coat of arms was granted to Doctor James D Floyd of Edinburgh, Scotland in 1998 by Lyon Court, Scotland.

The design of the blazon on the shield of this grant is similar to that proper to the descendants of Rhirid Flaidd alias Flood in Ireland, and differs only in that Azure [blue] is substituted for Argent [silver] and Argent for Vert [green]. The two wolves' heads erased in chief are now Or [gold] and a pheon Or (a barbed arrowhead) in base, replaces the third wolf's head.

The Pheon was taken from one of the ancient Lloyd arms, although the Grant actually specifies a spear head engrailed. As the second son of his family he has a Crescent Gules [red] in the centre of the chevron.
