Aosta Camp, August 2001
In 2001 the Guide camp was held in Aosta, northern Italy.
It was a two day bus ride to get there on three different buses - for the
French and Italian buses were not that reliable!
It was in an Acorn adventure campsite so the tents were put up for us, we
had a floor and CAMP BEDS!!!! We shared the campsite with a youth group from London.

Over the week we stayed there we did a range of activities:

·
Canoeing
·
Kayaking
·
Abseiling
·
Swimming
·
Water Games
·
Walking (the picture is actually of one of our
many rest stops)
·
White Water Rafting (my
personal favourite)
·
A trip up Mont Blanc

In fact two Guides got enrolled at the top on Mont Blanc!
·
Pot-holing
·
Initiative Exercises
·
Raft building
The food was great, although the milk at breakfast was slightly dodgy, but
overall we all had a fantastic time. That is not forgetting the steady supply
of ice lollies that
kept us going through 30 degree plus of Italian sunshine and the memorable
evening entertainment organized for us by the Acorn Adventure staff.

The one terrifying thought that wiped the smiles off everyone's faces was
the prospect of returning home...on the bus.
