Ardeche Camp, August 2003
The Ardeche camp was extremely hot, but that gave us all the more reason to
jump in the river!

The Acorn Staff were as enthusiastic and welcoming as always. We had a
great time river trekking, kayaking, swimming, raft building, archery and much
much more!

The highlight of the camp was the two day descent of the Ardeche, traveling
in canoes and sleeping outdoors along the way. With temperatures over 40
degrees most of the time, we all found many excuses to get soaking wet!

The journey there and back included a twelve hour coach ride, so towards
the end, the coach began to smell, with lots of wet people and clothes in it!
We were glad of the air conditioning though.

The food was yummy, (vegetarian too), and we had countless funny moments on
the water - Anna and Sally (the leaders) in a boat together for two days, Anna
constantly saying "Paddle Sally, paddle!" Also, a few swimmers tried
to capsize their boat, but gave up when Anna hit them over the head with her
paddle!

We had great fun on the ten day camp, and we took back with us many
hilarious memories. The weather was fantastic, the food great and the views of
the valley were stunning!
