A Sign of Hope ... ... A Place of Help

Co-ordinators: Colin Taylor E-mail Me and Christine Elcombe E-mail Me
The Folkestone Rainbow Centre 'Drop In' is open Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Here we offer an immediate response service for people who come in needing support, help or advice straight away. We offer a friendly and sympathetic ear, hot (or cold) drinks, sound advice and practical help. This can range from making appointments for housing needs, to providing sleeping bags and blankets; from helping with contacts for finding furniture for a new apartment to supplying bags of food; from speaking to 'officialdom' on behalf of someone to writing letters, making phone calls and sending faxes.

In the first six months of 2004, we gave out 479 bags of food; 28 sleeping bags or blankets etc; 14 bags of dog food; 15 bags of baby food; nappies and clothing; provided toys for one family; clothes (or vouchers) to 27; toiletries to 35; and seven bags of cat food.

The 'Drop In' is designed to ensure that the needy in the Shepway District area have somewhere they can come and find a place of help, under a sign of hope.
